“World Women Summit” was organized under the leadership of MUSIAD in New York

MUSIAD and KADEM organized “World Women Summit” within the scope of International Women’s Day events in Yale Club of New York to ensure that women participate in business world and economy more actively and, create solution offers.

MUSIAD and KADEM organized “World Women Summit” within the scope of International Women’s Day events in Yale Club of New York to ensure that women participate in business world and economy more actively and, create solution offers. Fatma Betül Sayan Kaya, Minister of Family and Social Policies, Prof. Dr. Gülnur Aybet, Principal Consultant of the Presidency, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sare Aydan Yılmaz, President of KADEM and Mustafa Tuncer, President of MUSIAD USA participated in the Summit.     Giving a speech in the Summit, Kaya stated that support should be provided to develop sustainable policies for gender equality, ensure that women participate in economic life and live peacefully and confidently.

Objective for 2023 is to increase Women’s share in workforce to 41 percentage

Continuing to pay visits in New York, Kaya made a speech in “World Women Summit” organized by MUSIAD USA, KADEM and TOA. Minister Kaya stated that they aim to increase women’s share in workforce to 41 percentage in 2023 which is 100th anniversary of foundation of the Republic. Kaya stated that improving women’s       existence in all fields of life, ensuring equality of opportunity for women and men are main criteria to achieve objectives regarding social development and democracy.

Minister Kaya emphasized that quality and productivity of individuals should be improved to ensure a fast, effective, continuous and sustainable growth and in this context investment to the areas of employment, education, health, nutrition and democratic participation is important.

“Goal is to increase women’s share in workforce to 41 percentage”

Stated that economic, human, social and political factors also effect foundation of social reality, Minister Kaya said that: “While labour force participation rate of women in Turkey was 23,3% in 2005, this rate increased to 33,8% with an increase of 10,5% in November, 2017. On the other hand, an increase of about 75% in female employee rate has occurred within two years.”.

Made opening speech of the event, Mustafa Tuncer, President of MUSIAD USA, stated that women struggle in business life even though efforts regarding women rights have been made for years, and wage difference between men and women still continues.

Emphasized on women being exposed to discrimination in business life, Tuncer stated that many employers hold off from giving long term parental leave.  While stating that it is necessary to offer more educational opportunities and programs based on business life to women, Tuncer also mentioned that business world should give more business to women as well.

Guidance in Business World

Gülnur Aybet, Principal Consultant of the Presidency, emphasized in her speech that young women should not underestimate their own potentials in workplaces. 

While stating that senior women can guide young girls through business world due to their independent professional business relations, Aybet also mentioned that such relations would be beneficial to women in business world. Emphasized on necessity of motivating women for women being successful in business life, Aybet stated that it is required not to create pessimistic environment due to unfair conflicts in workplace.

Aybet pointed out that glass ceiling is among these conflicts and women should make effort for their rights and dignity. Underlined that women empower themselves with the choices they made, Aybet stated that their life experiences also contribute to their development.
